Expanding our relationships with the nation’s top automotive carriers
UL wants to prioritize the best carriers with the best insurance. To help achieve that, we’re offering top eligibility to those that send us copies of their UL-favored subrogation waivers.
What is a subrogation waiver?
As a carrier, offering shippers’ subrogation waivers forfeits your insurance company’s ability “step into your shoes” and sue third parties and recover their losses. Usually, this means that have you have an accident and your insurance company pays out your named shipper, they can’t turnaround, shift blame, and sue that shipper for what they just received. All policies are different, so read your policy to know how yours works.
Many in our industry feel subrogation clauses protect the integrity of insurance policies and limit insurance companies’ ability to pressure small parties into unfair settlements. While many insurance companies are ethical, others are not.
Protecting shippers from such litigation helps keeps business flowing, dispatchers busy, and loads on the roads. Our industry spends a fortune on insurance, so we hope you’ll help us keep insurance companies accountable.
How to ensure you have current waiver for UL:
Place a quick call to your insurance provider and say you want to make sure your Automotive Liability has a subrogation waiver on file for a shipping client. If yours has lapsed or you don’t yet have one, ask if you can get us added. If you have a blanket waiver covering all shippers you transport for, skip the next steps and send it over!
For those obtaining client-specific waivers, please request the waiver be written in favor of “‘uShip Concierge LLC, DBA uShip Logistics LLC.’ Located at 708 Congress Ave., Austin, TX 78701.”
They may ask what approximate percentage of your business is sourced from UL, so check your dispatch software for your load history.
What do I do once I receive the documents?
If you’d like your waiver to help boost your priority with UL, use the form below to ensure we have a copy on file.
Waivers will not override deprioritization for other service issues, but will boost those in good standing. When our decision criteria is down to two available carriers with similar rates, performance history, and DOT standing, carriers that have sent us their waivers will have priority.
If you have any questions, email operations@uShipLogistics.com directly.
Want UL to cover the processing cost?
Subrogation waivers are usually $25 to $100+ per shipper/broker, depending on your insurance provider and state. If this is your first time submitting a waiver to us, UL will cover the cost of waivers plus an additional 25% for your time, up to $100 total. If you also add us as a named additional insured, we’ll cover up to $150.
To be eligible for reimbursement must submit your proof of waiver, new binder and receipt or proof of payment via the link below.
Reimbursements will be sent out via ACH within five business days of processing.
